Cruciate Ligament Injury: Treatment and Rehabilitation

Treatment and Rehabilitation for Anterior Cruciate Ligament Injuries | Helix Physical Therapy

With an anterior cruciate ligament tear, it’s not just about recovery—it’s about returning to your sport as a stronger, more stable version of yourself. At Helix Physical Therapy in Bavel (near Breda), you’ll find specialized ACL rehabilitation with an active and scientifically grounded approach. We follow protocols such as those from VKB United. Whether you’re recovering from ACL surgery or have an unstable knee, we’ll guide you with a targeted and personalized approach.

It’s no coincidence that top athletes also come to us for our approach to cruciate ligament injuries. Among others, world kickboxing champion and professional MMA fighter Pieter Buist relies on Helix for his rehabilitation. In addition, we assist the members of the Breda Rugby Club, and we’re the practice that actively helps field athletes and contact sport athletes from various local clubs with their recovery, such as from a cruciate ligament injury.

The Process, Step by Step

  1. Intake & Screening

We start with a comprehensive intake session during which we assess your injury, surgical report (if available), athletic goals, and daily challenges.

  1. Customized Treatment Plan

Based on the intake, we develop a plan that focuses on:

  • Restoration of Mobility and Range of Motion
  • Building Muscle Strength and Stability
  • Proprioception and Neuromuscular Control
  • Sport-specific movements

  1. Active Treatment Sessions

Every session is focused on progress. You’ll train under our guidance, using modern testing and measurement methods. You’ll also receive exercise videos so you can safely continue working on your recovery at home.

  1. Evaluation & Adjustment

Every few weeks, we’ll track your progress. This allows us to continually adjust your treatment plan and, if necessary, speed it up or modify it.

  1. Aftercare & Return to Sports

Is your knee strong enough to handle stress again? If so, we’ll guide you toward a full return to sports or work. Thanks to our partnership with Helix Sports & Health Coaching, we offer additional training sessions to build strength, endurance, and explosiveness.
